Another one written for My wife Sally,

What was I, before I met her ?

What was I, before she came ?

Sad and lonely, broken hearted,

Trying to build my life again,

What was I, before I saw her ?

Before she taught me how to dance ?

Just a man without a future,

Afraid to take another chance,

Scared to face each new tomorrow,

Knowing it would be the same,

Thatís what I was before I met her,

Before I ever knew her name,

What am I, now that Iíve found her ?

Since sheís been part of my life ?

Happier than I could imagine,

Free from worry, pain and strife,

Looking forward to the future,

With new found faith in love and hope,

Smitten by old Cupidís arrow,

And hoping thereís no antidote,

What is my idea of heaven ?

Standing here right by her side,

Will this feeling last forever ?

Until the sun and moon collide,

Until the oceans flow together,

And flood the furthest star above,

Thatís how long Iím going to need her,

Thatís how long Iíll be in love,

Could I carry on without her ?

If for some reason she should go ?

Thatís a question I canít answer,

But I pray to God, Iíll never know,

Because what was I before I met her ?

I lived a life that was a curse,

All I know is if I lost her,

My life would then be, even worse.

ďWhat was I, before I met her?Ē
In this piece Steve, you so accurately depicted my life, even though it was your own. The parallels are amazing in that your words sound like my heart for ďmy LeahĒ this is a very good write of true endearment. Thanks for sharing.
