We know our hearts and admit our wrongs,
but do little to change--just going on
in our same old ways...ignoring the song.

"Let Others See Jesus in You" we sing,
then rush away when the church bell rings.
We've read our lesson and placed back on the shelf
to spend out time mostly for self.

As we pray for forgiveness, do we pray to forgive?
Do we want to be loved, yet so unwilling to give?
Do we give to others according to need,
or do we decide what they should receive?

Do we use people's caring for our own selfish gain?
Are our actions supported by all that we claim?
Are occasional gestures the best we can do?
Do we sacrifice kindness in our rush to get through?

Even while marching to different songs,
right is right and wrong is wrong.
Are we good examples of all we should be?
God knows our hearts, but what do 'they' see?

If we'd ask ourselves along the way,
"What have others seen in me today?"
Perhaps we'd do more than confess our wrongs,
we'd make some changes and live the song.

"Do unto others..."

Marcyle

I enjoyed this very much. I am a believer but at times I have to stop and think "What was it Jesus taught?"

A wonderful poem that delivers the message contained in the verse: "Even while marching to different songs,
right is right and wrong is wrong." Way to go, Marcyle!

Just about says it all!! Would really make a difference
in this tired, old world if we did...
Great poetry, wonderful message...
