from a written SLam awhile back, had to use a proverb or somesuch ... later was published in an e-zine on another site (username 'amica' at the time)...
Also, recently found this artwork and was so drawn to it...reminded me of this piece in a way.
Thus, now a Proverb, a Psalm...
Beneath this rumpled cotton blanket,
torn and weary as myself,
I am full of thirst.
The window, aslant, set high in my room
is shadowed and fierce; so dark here--
as I lay still on my cot.
I am alone and this is, again, my night.
Still, I must close my eyes and I must dream.
I must... I will reach, clutch at branches,
moving, sowing new seeds of light, yes,
I will even make a way in the wilderness,
this wilderness I've fought so long--
blinded and out of breath.
Somewhere, long ago, so much younger
and less afraid, I soared.
I will, again in this dream-- It is my own.
I am a gull, flapping my wings,
thirsting for light, seeking home
and oceans long gone.
Wings flapping, harder and harder
I slowly begin to soar--
Yes, I am making my way, now
through this walled in wilderness
and at last, I see!
I see oceans of moonlight
and rivers in the desert and
I am lost in this new beauty.
I am lost in my hard won dream,
my own dream, come alive, true ...
An oasis of peace, at last.
"I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert." -- Isaiah 43:1

|A compelling and moving piece, Micha Julian, combined with the artwork, it brings, to my imagery template, such a shine of enlightenment, I can't convey its depths.
As I gaze again upon the image, I read more than at first, within the poem...
A truly satisfying mixture of image and words.
