GLITTERING PRIZE

Words and Music by BlueRick Solomon
for: SoloSongs LTD. Copyright 2007

They held you up like some glittering prize.
Like a great magician, you held everybody's eyes.
So what was I supposed to do...but want you?

I went out and bought a colorful disguise.
Topped it off with a coat of may colored lies.
That I almost believed was true ...just for you.

I like to think I get exactly what I want.
But that was just for show.
I think your spell must be wearin' off.
And now it's time I told you so.

You see, now that I have you,
                     What am I gonna do?
                     I don't know,
                     But it's true ...

I don't love you and I sure can't afford you.
                     What am I gonna do?
                     I don't know,
                     But it's true .

You want things that I don't need.
I like comfort and control...but baby you like speed.
Do I really have something to prove...just for you?

You're so damned used to being chased.
Damn it, I can't keep up this pace.
Sometimes I barely want to move,
But I'm movin' way too fast just for you.

Hey now wait a minute...where you all a goin'?
You done seen right through me and now the
             strain is a showin'.
            You can't be captured...only caught.
Everything I own's been sold. But you can still be
            bought.

You see, now that I have you,
                     What am I gonna do?
                     I don't know,
                     But it's true ...

I don't love you and I sure can't afford you.
                     What am I gonna do?
                     I don't know,
                     But it's true .

Sometimes love is blind and doesn't see these things. It's confusing when you're in love. You relay this so well in your write, the conflict in your heart.
