THE Food Chain
God on high looks down upon His vested creation;
He trails them through storm blown, “amber waves of grain...”
Where He sees an army of vagrant ant’s marching in line to a synchronized beat.
Abaft the ant’s, scuffing sounds come from small anxious rodent feet.
Trailing the rodents is the slithering snake,
And trying to catch the snake’s tail is a crouching sneak,
And right behind that sneak is something with larger feet,
And behind him something larger still.
So on and on it goes, “The circle of life”- it never ends!
And above them all are the vultures, who dive and pick apart
The ones with a weaker will, and little sense.
So for what it’s worth…
The next in line doesn’t want to give birth,
In order to stop the cycle of the food chain.
They make one last appeal to the higher- ups, hoping for a “bail-out” deal…
Trying to keep his kin from becoming the next-in-line’s ensuing meal.
