AND LAUGHTER, AND HAPPY TIMES
NEVER TAKE A PLATE AND SIT BEFORE A TV
SIT DOWN, ENJOY THE FOOD
TALK ABOUT THE DAY
EVERYONE HAD A TURN
ENJOY THE MEAL, PRAISE THE COOK
AND AS WE GIRLS BEGAN TO COOK, PRAISE THE LUMPY GRAVY, AND SUGAR INSTEAD OF FLOUR GRAVY, THE PIE THAT APPEARED TO HAVE DROPPED,
DADDY SOLDIERED ON, EATING SECOND AND EVEN THIRD HELPINGS
OH, HOW WE MISS THAT MAN
1907 - 1985
Be she 9 or 90 to the daughter of the South, the man who was her parent is always DADDY

|Called ours Pop, perhaps because he was older than most fathers. Still not quite sure what he taught me, except that I didn't want to be like him, and at least on the surface, succeeded. And yet, as the years have flown, I'd like to finally sit down and have a long talk with him. Well done.
