Jing jingle........

                                 Jing jingle......

A melodic sound you have all heard before,
listen close and you will hear.
Temperatures cooling, leaves on the ground,
an undeniable sound carried everywhere.

The hustle and bustle of holiday shoppers,
to fulfill wishes and dreams of girls and boys.
Searching for just the right special gifts,
making their way to what children want most - toys.

A time when fathers put in extra work time,
while mothers stay home and holiday
baking begins.
Bring out the flour, baking soda, salt,
chocolate, cream, sugar and all those
baking tins.

In the distance, you can hear the jing jingle,
an unmistakable sound spreading everywhere.
Celebrations begin, soon the birth of Jesus,
carolers on street corners singing out in
joyous prayer.

Children on the sidewalk play a game
of hopscotch,
all bundled up wearing jackets, hats
and mittens.
Inside by a window you can see a hearth all aglow,
resting close by are three very cozy kittens.

Decorations are placed on the lawn with care,
each one having their own very special place.
As you make your way through this very
busy time,
never forget why we celebrate, spread joy,
say grace.

As day transforms into night the
family gathers,
to share in decorating the familiar
Christmas tree.
Candy canes, chocolate candy, colored lights
and balls,
do not forget the tinsel to mimic icicles
you see.

When all has been accomplished and boxes
put away,
bring out the eggnog and ginger-bread girls
and boys.
This special time of year when all are willing
to share,
should remain in our hearts as we give
with joy.

Soft white powder gently cascading down
from heaven,
winds carrying the magic as it does this time
of year.
Dusting all it touches with miraculous treasures,
children getting restless, filled with anticipation and cheer.

This takes me back to simpler times - you know, before the credit card bills that go along with it. I took some time to simply let your imagery wash over me; there wasn't an image you left out, nor a single one I didn't connect with. It's time now to put up the tree!

Karen,

This reminds me of the movie, "The Polar Express." When the boy almost quit believing in the magic of the Season and couldn't hear the bell...as long as we believe, we'll always hear. Beautiful, glorious sound, the Christmas bells in verse! I believe. :) Well done!

I was hearing the jingle-jingle of Christmas even before Halloween where I live. Pretty soon we're going to be like the presential primaries and have the jingle-gingle two years ahead of time . . . Is that even feasable? . . . LOL
