(on the lighter side of life)
No more diet anything please!

Was tired of “diet” everything, I’d lost ten pounds,
So was going to be bad. A Pepsi without diet,
That’s what I’d have.   There was a vending machine
in the building next door.  There were no Pepsis,
Only cokes. Oh, well that wasn’t so tough, anything
was better than that crappy diet stuff.
Then I had a fight with the vending machine, it took my
money and wasn’t going to give me anything.
I kicked it like mad, until it finally gave up.
It finally gave me my soda, and I thought I had won.
Well, now I was totally broke, but I got my drink
Than looked at the label, a darn diet coke!

I laughed. Reminds me of the last hamburger I wanted to eat. I ordered a double double cheese burger with everything on it. I loved grilled onions. Got home, unwrapped it and had a shock. It was a double but only meat. No sauce eather. So, it wasn't my last hamburger because it went in the trash. That was 1981.

I really liked the rhyming scheme you used in this poem, it worked well for the overall light nature of the piece. I think we've all had frustrations with the crassness of consumerism and with vending machines.

Very funny, and cute. A nice little piece we can all relate to.

Thank you for sharing the moment, Mary. I tried diet "something" once or twice and I thoroughly disliked it. Love and best wishes,

-- isn't strange how often times we get exactly what we do not want -- and as for vending machines, they are more like slot machines -- you know you are going to lose any time you use them -- just not exactly how -- very amusing write -- you gave me a spirit pick-er-upper -- thanks -- God bless -- JMW

I aree, totally! My wife is addicted to Diet Pepsi, and even one sip, makes me gag! I'd rather drink water than that stuff.

Sometimes pop machines act if they are alive.
I have had plenty of fights with pop machines
myself; and it is really sad when you lose a
fight with a pop machine ... been there and
done that. We have to wonder what this world
is coming to. Good write Mary !!

ROTF! If you don't like diet coke, send it here: love the stuff. Been drinking it all my life. Does it help the weight? Nope. Just tastes good to me. Concur with Karen in a way (weigh?) - costs too much to eat healthy, and you know what "diet" is, right? DIE with a T. LOL Excellent write of soda frustration!

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

I am sick and tired of diet too. No, being overweight is NOT good, but I wish the skinny people'd stop shoving it down our throats! Not everyonc can afford to eat healthy; if they do, they make it too expensive while the junk food is inexpensive, easy to afford. No wonder there are so many fatties about! And not everyone can exercise without risking their health (me, included). It's inSANE!

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :(

Good write!
