Does the "survival of the fittest" work in tandem with natural ecology or against it? Even in this I think they work together and it is only humans on the face of this earth, perhaps, who work against such innate cooperations and tolerances. Our adulation of our warped ideals of "success" which is contingent on greed (in the broadest sense of the word) will definitely be our downfall. In nature perhaps only weeds and disease are "greedy", which just about says it all. Power packed into just 8 lines, Diana - and expertly so. xx

cooperation is not established by conditioning or learning - I'm convinced - and it is not hereditary. I'm inclined to believe (as you postulate with the word 'innate') that it is part of a master design (not yet fully realized by humans) that we find grand evidences of in nature. Interesting.

Many do not wish to cooperate this is nothing new. It's all for one now darlin' and very sad. Even if you try to help another you are publicly shamed for being a good soul. I echo Jerry, even roses will bring blood. In particular those pretending to be a rose
Great write pointing out what society is missing

Haha! Tell the water buffalo about cooperation as a pride of lions bring it down and eats it alive. I guess you could say that the lions cooperate in the take-down and feast. I hear what you are saying Diana, but nature is basically cruel. Even roses will bring blood.
