The Mimosa Tree
It came from my love smitten heart and for the entire world to see.
The Mimosa was very first flower that I gave to Leah my wife to be.
Back long ago in a land not too far away; back when we young, free and brave.
I gave unto her this soft pink bloom, and you know what??? I gave her another today.
Its tender brush like petals reminds me of the sweet softness of her hair.
Its soft shades and gentle hues warm my heart; it calls to me my love so fair.
Dizzying days so free, so fun, come now unto me and Leah beneath the smiling sun.
For back then so long ago, we were romantic young fools so madly in love.
We climbed rocks and crossed swift moving streams.
We chased each other and shared our most intimate dreams.
Those days from way back then still remain precious in our heart.
We have both grown older and we don’t run as fast as we once did in the park.
Yet our love has grown purer than either she or I thought it ever could be.
And because of my most desperate love; I picked her today another tender bloom from a flowering Mimosa tree.
