AN ANGEL'S LOVE

i once knew love
such love most only dream of

i will keep it safe forever
in the castle of my memory

she still lives
the queen of my heart
in the shrine of my soul

in the darkness of lonely nights
her whispers return
to soothe the pain of my days

i can still smell her scent
on the soft summer rain
still feel the warmth of her skin
when the sun kisses mine

i once held heaven in my arms
but now heaven holds her
beyond the reach of my hands

if i never embrace such an angel again
i will die a happy man
for i once knew love most only dream of

Hello Don,
This is a year old poem, but I just found out when browsing through your site. Only a true love can create such a beauty… and you gently letting us know that Love is above death…it is so true, I am touched deeply…

I have missed reading you. This one warms my heart beyond words and touches my deeply sentimental soul. If this be fiction or non-fiction, the beauty of your words speaks of love eternal.

God bless you. Kathy

you paint the bittersweet of what it means to love and to lose, to have, hold and ultimately let go of. Yet there has actually only been gain, as you so rightly conclude. Sad but appreciative and beautiful in its attitude of gratitude and giving. Life is ours to share but not to own. Well done, DJ! :)) xx

What a tribute to love, and how sorrowful have to lose it. I'm so sorry for your loss, it must be very painful.
