And The Whippoorwill Sang
by Micki Peluso

This is a funny, poignant, sad, true story of a large family of eight. It's full of adventure, a haunted home, comedic antics and a wonderful life-- until tragedy strikes..

Just reminiscing...I remember

I had a spectacular agenda...digging

down so deep if I were a Jew in the 1930's

and my occupation was street peddler...

making my only goal...'everything'

that would extend to my 'seed'

...finding some type of 'comfort'

from the labor

Using the anger that I had...

for the 'damage' that had been done

to my body and mind...from the

fermented fruits & other...toxins

as a motivation...

Having gone 'left' all my life...

it was go 'right'

Assuming a non-political bent for the poem (Dog help us if "The Right" take over our lives) this rouses in the reader his or her own sense of history, his or her own sense of trail blazing, ever cautious with bushwhacking into the questionable safety, but never fearful of discovery. Change. How inevitable for those of conscious living. Again, you provided nourishment for the mind. Thank you.

You are an extraordinary poet to draw from deeply painful, yet obviously growth experiences, process them and put them out there for us to benefit from. Thank you. Be well, Kathy

Asa...release the inner spirit that lives with every beat of your heart and every breath that you take. Be true to who and what you are now and learn but not live in the past. This is your test, your character, your strength your weakness, no one else but you. If you think you can, you can; and if you think you can't then surely you can't: its all up to you! Stay strong my brother from another mother.

Dear Asa,

Follow your vision and you'll do just fine.
Put Christ in everything you say and do and you'll go far.
You got what it takes because you have seen the sun over the horizon.
You will never return to darkness and hopelessness again.

Let me explain something, more than likely this is true. Our visions are a peak into our past. When we can reconcile our past we can face our future and face all head on. Beautiful write, what a talented insightful young man.
