At Last, Acceptance!

I've changed so much
In recent years
It's sometimes hard
To recognize myself.
I do not know
How others view me;
Am I new and improved?
Or am I a new shade
Of the same ole,
Same ole?
Whatever they may think,
I believe
I am the better
For all the work
I've put into myself.
Vanished are the days
Of trying to impress,
Of trying too hard
For everyone
To like me,
And of laughing
While secreting away
Harsh tears.
Life is
So much more
Rewarding
Now that I've accepted
The me
I was meant to be!

It's so much easier to go with the flow than to try to swim up stream.
