Autumn Always

Inspired by the painting, "Autumn Eucalyptus," by Eyvind Earle.

http://www.eyvindearle.com/TheWork.aspx

Aglow with the beauty of Autumn’s first kiss,

the touch of it too blissful to ever resist,

Skies melt in colors of lemons and ice,

and the sun spreads long in rays so concise.

Eden grown there at the base of one tree,

thousands more linger where flowers should be,

though subtle they’re there everywhere you can gaze,

on a slow blowing breeze beneath a thick haze.

Autumn walks on tiptoes upon crumbling leaves,

then shouts out at sunset with a summer day’s ease,

If its beauty lies not in the length of its days,

then it lies there within its deep coloring ways.

Never one to tarry to meet cool air and night,

Nor hesitant to deliver a good full moon fright,

Autumn believes in the redemption of souls,

and the slumbering peace as October’s wind blows.

Another beauty from you.

These eucalyptus are not my usual autumn thought--though strikingly beautiful in the distance. Autumn always hung on my parents' wall. An iconic scene of a rutted muddy trail winding through brilliantly colored old trees to a distant field beyond. It was always autumn in that room, regardless of season.

Very nice and so appropriate ending.

Autumn walks on tiptoes upon crumbling leaves,

I love these lines in particular but the whole poem is a wonderful ode to my favourite season which is fastly approaching. Thank you for sharing this gift, Michelle. Love, hugs, and best wishes,
