“We derive many critical lessons

About life,

From our dogs.”

Roger Caras

A brisk early morning walk

With old Trucker by my side

It’s as if he can somehow read

He sat and he posed by this sign

October is ‘Adopt-A-Dog Month’

A wonderful time, to adopt a canine

There are so many homeless dogs today

In these extremely bleak economic times

My friend Trucker had been abandoned

I found him last winter, living in a truck yard

Emaciated, starving, freezing, out on his own

For too many dogs today, life is extremely hard

Each and every one of these dogs, deserve a chance

For a much better life, for someone to be their friend

Why not head over to an animal shelter in your area

And help put a dog’s misery and suffering to an end

A brisk early morning walk,

With old Trucker by my side;

It’s as if he can somehow read,

He sat and he posed by this sign.

He has gained another ten pounds now,

And he is always at my side, these days;

Although he’s getting old, he’s now happy,

And he shows his gratitude in so many ways.

Clifford, The Big Red Cartoon Dog,

Is One of the National ‘Spokespersons’

For This Month’s Adopt-A-Dog Campaign.

That is a handsome dog. My neighborhood is covered up with dogs needing homes - you know the ones left on country roads like the owner done them a favor...
Thank you for gently raising awareness.
