Been Off Doing Some More Street Rescues,

But I Wanted To Bring ‘Spay Day’ Into View,

In The Sad World of Unwanted Pets, So Much To Do,

This Year Alone, 10 Million Unloved Lives, Will Be Through

“I feel so devastated whenever I go into the euthanasia room.

I see all the animals that we’re putting down, and it breaks my heart.

If more people would spay or neuter their pets, we wouldn’t be doing this.”

An Animal Shelter Employee

Tomorrow, February 28, 2011

Marks the 18th Annual ‘Spay Day’

Unless all pet owners start spay/neutering

Our Pet Overpopulation will never go away

Thousands of unwanted kittens and puppies

Are still being born in the U.S.A, every single day

The fate of most – homelessness and shortened lives

The reason our animal shelters are overflowing, today

Yet, despite the overflowing shelters all across America

Puppy Mills and Breeders, keep producing dogs and cats

These very sad days, when any type of money can be made

Greedy Profiteers, simply choose to ignore, any and all facts

The only way to reduce these unwanted and unloved animals

Is a National Pet Spay/Neuter Campaign, to reduce birth rates

Unless many more people, begin to realize, its vast importance

Homelessness, starvation, and being euthanized, will be their fate

The humane societies started Spay Day, some eighteen years ago

And, some progress was being made, until America’s economy sank

Today, many people cannot afford to keep their pets, or their offspring

So they dump them, and these abandoned pets join the unwanted ranks

It is why so many pets are now starving and unloved, in America

It is why so many homeless pets, are still being euthanized, today

It is why America’s too few animal rescuers, are so very sadly busy

Attempting to round up, trap, spay/neuter, and feed America’s strays

It is once again, an endless cycle, of more and more, unwanted pets

It is a lack of people willing to adopt, and our selfish modern society

So, on Spay Day, veterinary clinics and hospitals, all across our country

Offer Low-Cost Spay/Neutering – and some of their services are even free

Please Join Us, Tomorrow, February 28th, for the 18th Annual SPAY DAY

Please Help Us Spread Awareness to Pet Lovers, in Every U.S. Community

Please Help Us Save Many More Animals, From Abandonment and Starvation

Please Advocate Pet SPAY/NEUTER and Help Us, Help Everyone, Finally See

Spay Day should not be an option, it should be compulsory! There are far too many animals that need saving for the few of us that care to help. It can't go on! So much misery and suffering! On top of it all, it is far too easy for undesirable owners to access their victims.
And I agree with Ron Hull, humans need a Spay Day too. We don't need to produce so many children now that the survival rate is so high.

... being born solely to die is just not on. My mother's tactic of drowning newborn kittens still haunts me... Not to be recommended and God bless those who are thoughtful enough to prevent such horrors. xx

I totally agree with you, but humans need a Spay Day too.
