“Until we stop harming other creatures,

We are all savages.”

Thomas Jefferson

My heart breaks these days

From all the savagery I see

Jefferson’s words ring so true

I am ashamed of my humanity

35 Below Zero in British Columbia

This bitterly cold and savage night

A muffled cry from a cardboard box

A dying creature consumed by fright

One compassionate woman opens it up

To find a tiny, terrified, Yorkie pup inside

The dog’s mouth has been ‘rubber banded’

The horror she sees, makes the woman cry

The smell of rotting flesh, is so horrendous

She doesn’t believe this puppy will survive

But she calls a pet rescue group in Canada

And today, tiny little ‘Star’ is miraculously alive

After a lot of medical care and needed surgery

Rescued Star has been adopted by this woman

Today, this tortured, tossed out in the cold, canine

Is now finally loved, her abysmal misery, is at an end

Please support the pet rescue groups, in your own area

Please consider adopting one of the creatures we abuse

Please help us, to save yet one more innocent life, today

With every one saved, a bit more of our savagery, we lose

How do you reach people like that, or are they worth reaching, fifty percent maybe, none of us is innocent, but creatures all are, they don't do things with intend to harm others for just the sake, of being miserable dispicable, and downright mean and hateful. Yet if I caught someone like that, would my prayers still hold me, not to do the same to them, for becoming like them, I wonder? Bless ya Ed!

What can I say - I am so ashamed to be of the same species as these people.

I was complaining about the rough handling of my goats by my vet - Then I read this. It certainly puts things into perspective.
