Both The Jailor Man and His Now Many Fans,

Have Been Searching For This Dog On The Run

Music: Band On The Run,

Paul McCartney and Wings

I’d named him ‘Shadow’ many weeks ago

Since he knew how to hide, extremely well

But as I had chased after him, for all that time

I hadn’t yet learned the depth of Shadow’s hell

And now, we so sadly believed that we had lost him

From our sight, he had now completely disappeared

We surmised, that he’d been run down, or poisoned

These were now, for many, the biggest Shadow fears

Little did we know, that he had now traveled miles

Back to the vicinity, where he had been, abandoned

A neighboring community’s police department called

Our race to save Shadow, had not yet come to an end

And now, we knew Shadow’s horrendous life story

He and his siblings were dumped, eight months ago

Animal Control, had soon captured them, but not him

It has been a lonely life, always on the run, for Shadow

This poor outcast has never experienced any human love

We now knew that he had never even lived inside a home

He had no way of knowing, if we wanted to help or hurt

So he kept avoiding all of us, and sadly continued to roam

And now, every time that we raced off to a different area

We soon got a call from another community, now involved

Dozens of people, in three different towns, were searching

And, all of us wanted to save this canine outcast, somehow

We finally got the break we were looking for, yesterday

He was spotted, exhaustedly sleeping on someone’s lawn

We quickly assembled a team of ardent Shadow admirers

And we converged on his new location, shortly after dawn

This time, we decided to place some sedatives in a very enticing meal

Canine tranquilizers, that were recommended by a caring veterinarian

Shadow ate our offering, and soon, he was fast asleep, inside my truck

He was now safe; it took three villages to bring his wandering to an end

Shadow is now at an animal hospital being cared for and neutered

Our challenge now, will be getting him to trust human beings again

This has been our most extensive street orphan rescue effort to date

But we are very hopeful, that Shadow’s story, will have a happy end

It Took Numerous Volunteers,

In Three Different Communities,

To Enable Us To Provide A Chance,

For This Outcast Canine On The Run,

And Now, We Want To Thank All Of Them,

Every Man Woman And Child, Each and Every One

Shadow sounds like a real survivor. If the world goes the way people are treating dogs, he would become an Alpha male for his pack, and lead them to food and safety, no matter what.

I have to really admire him, even though he gave you hell.

Yes, a life is worth fighting for! We must remember these pets depend on us. They cannot make it without the love and care of a human being. Guess what? Most people cannot make it without love and care that many pets can provide. We need each other. We need to wake up the so called civilized world! Amen!

Trust takes patience, it does with all creatures. Patience and time and they can sense who is to be trusted. I am happy to see he is finally safe.
