“The night has become painful for me;

It brings to light our many cruelties.”

Author Unknown

Music: Needing A Friend

Another sad telephone call

About a drifter, so very alone

“Another abandoned street orphan”

I so sadly heard her say on the phone

Soon I was at the location given to me

And there he stood under the moonlight

Trembling, emaciated, matted, and dirty

Yet one more sad throw-away in the night

My heart broke, when I saw him standing there

It was obvious he had been on his own a long time

Once, someone’s faithful friend and loyal companion

Then, very cruelly abandoned – a hideous human crime

And like so many street orphans these extremely sad days

He now aimlessly wandered the night on the railroad tracks

He watched me very warily, as I now slowly approached him

And soon, he ravenously smelled the food in my old backpack

I sat down on the other side of the tracks with my humble offerings

Soon, his hunger outweighed his wariness, and towards me he did go

After he ate and he drank, he fell fast asleep in the back seat of my truck

He’s now being treated at an animal hospital, and I have named him ‘Hobo’

And now, I thanked the heavens above that I found him;

And now, I’m determined to find him a loving new home.

If he looks like that one in the picture, I WILL TAKE HIM...I like long haired dogs that I can brush and such and keep looking good...if there is a way, maybe we can meet halfway like somewhere around Cleveland...let me know...none of the places around here are giving me a dog unless it is a small yappy mutt, that I CANNOT put up with...Jurseeeeeeeeeeeeeeey

And so he was, snatched from the street by the dog rescuer/Angel. Score one for the good guys. Thanks for keeping us informed about this tragedy of our greed and stupidity.

I'm crying... it always touches me and breaks my heart how cruel man can be and throw away these beautiful creatures that are so devoted to us and love us unconditionally. All I can say is bless you untold amount of times for being their savior Mr. Ed

As always, with a chaotic world so mercilessly pounding our senses, reading one of your acts of kindness is always uplifting and a fresh reminder humans are sentient beings first, and willing nut cases second.
