-A Follow-Up To My Recent Poem Stray-
“She would never say where she came from,
Yesterday don't matter if it's gone.
While the sun is bright,
Or in the darkest night,
No one knows,
She comes and goes.”
The Rolling Stones,
Ruby Tuesday
She was first spotted, days ago
Wandering a lot, at the ball park
No one knew where she came from
This frightened little stray in the dark
After each and every night game
She forlornly searched for someone
Sadly, no one paid any attention to her
More days and nights of misery to come
She would appear, after every ball game
Hoping to find the one, who left her there
She would very sadly scan the many faces
But the vast majority of people, did not care
One of my dog traps finally enticed her
She hungered for a tasty ballpark frank
At first, she was frightened and forlorn
Today, in her happiness, we give thanks
Today, the joy in her heart, has returned
Today, she has found, a loving new home
This sad orphan was rescued on a Tuesday
Now Little Ruby Tuesday, no longer has to roam
