Fay, Fay Go Away

Some thoughts about Tropical Storm Fay that hit Florida in August 2008.

She had the darkest of gray skies, thunder and lightening

Her bolts and rumbles are ever so frightening.

She comes to our shores with ill intent

From the coast of Africa, she is sent.

Her wind pushes trees as far as they can bend

Her rains extreme, only Noah could comprehend

Her visit is long as she remains persistent

Her course delayed, she stays resistent.

Her furry at night has animals hiding

The birds of day, her winds the're riding

Her course so erratic, her speed so slow

Can't make up her mind, to stay or go.

Her aqueous clouds ready to douse

Keeping busy all those at the fire house

Flooded streets with houses too close to the ground

Distraught people searching for beloved photos to be found

A damaged structure and a broken dream

Will be repaired with an enduring spirit, it would seem

She allows no breath taking sunset, no brilliant sunrise

Her gloom prevails until prayer initiates her demise

Fay has gone back to her ocean

The wind and rain gone, that caused the commotion

God's sun is back, bright and cheerful

The birds are chirping a welcomed ear full

As we wait for the next storm to blow

Ready youself Floridians, at least it's not snow

Fay, Fay go away

Stay away from my Tampa Bay

Fay is no lady, that I must say

Fay, Fay go away

Very descriptive and a knack of bringing it all to life. Had a friend who was delayed a day as her flight was cancelled and what a mess ensued, nicely writen...

Be always safe,

I went nearly into survival mode just reading your poem.
We who have snow thank God for it. And yes, that'd be in Buffalo! We embrace it.
