To Be Loved As You Should

I love you supremely,
How could I love you any more?
You are the beauty I spend
Each day trying to love you better.
My wretched gifts,
Paltry to those that other,
more affluent lovers might present.
I give to you my words,
My flesh and what strength I have left.
Each passing day is a day to cherish,
As I whisper sweetness in your ear.

I search my mind for a perfect gift,
One that hasn't been thought of before.
I believe if some wistful god in some distant land,
Were as enraptured with you as am I,
He would bequeath to you your private star.
And give back to you your gaiety and youth,
He would surely give you magnificent presents I cannot

You should have loved a deity,
I am simply ancient dust.

Jerry,
to give your love as this is the perfect gift, I hope she has the feeling to accept it knowing it is more than any other can offer. As for ancient dust I sincerely doubt that your mind and heart are very alive and passionate as your well written words always betray.. I hope to have multitudes more to pleasure in reading.

You have one gift that most do not possess–and this poem exemplifies what I'm talking about. Your Muse is all you need to keep her heart warm.

Being in love with love has many benefits, as well as pitfalls. Knowing and thinking love offers much to ponder. This piece suggests there's much to be realized.

Ah but what are gifts truly, what are their worth? Is it not the sentiment of the heart that means more than anything? Materialism is materialism and those things can only sit upon a shelf and gather dust.

Love is worth more than any trinket that can be bestowed upon a person. The heart and the words are the true treasures that can be given and kept, framed in another's heart forever. For a position in life (status), also means nothing. It is all the heart and only the heart that speaks truth in love.

As said "I love you supremely,

How could I love you any more?" In those very first lines are all the wealth in the world you can give another. Nothing can stand up to this.

This is beautiful poem of love Jerry
