When wanderlust takes up residence in the human heart, the homing instinct is replaced by the need to roam... a gestalt this poem captures quite well, Jerry.

| The longings of a Bukowski lament, the blacktop moaning, like an inhaling gluttonous demon, life's highway, that paved tongue engineered to exude its invitation with no mercy for rest, ambles without regret, knowing we will have more than enough to necessitate wear and tear on its digestion. Still, we stick out that thumb for one more chance to beat the odds. |

Been there Jerry. Day to day, week to week, just looking to get from sunup to sunset and then repeat, over & over again. I know the feeling. Mix in a little female companionship along the way and it makes it all sound like a more enjoyable adventure than the reality of it all proved to be.
Course, I never did find any ".. eyes that will make me dance like a butterfly.." Perhaps that might have made the difference.
Much enjoyed, Dick

In the pits of hell at that moment. Not only was the blacktop moaning so was your soul at that time. You couldn't have been farther down into the pit.
You have a very unique creative way of allowing all of us into your world during times of your life. I know others have been where you have Jerry, and when you write your woes your woes touch others. Those who have lifted themselves out of and off of the blacktop moaning appreciate you greatly for they know a kindred soul who understands them. You have a great gift and wonderful insight.
For myself, I walked every step in this wonderful piece! I felt what you did, but of course I feel what others feel. There are no words to describe how well you write in all you do.
Fantastic Jerry

Jerry,
I agree with Annabel, you are masterful at allowing your readers to see through your feelings as if we were trudging along the moaning blacktop with you in those years before.

| this write takes use all on a moaning blacktop trudge through lonliness.... words whose soulful crys speak for many men...women too in may be a different way...all searching, moving on from place to lonely place...no longer the heart to look for, but waiting for 'eyes that will make them dance'. i give this one a thumbs up jerry |
