My nature is an extravert,
I hid inside the shadows well.
A rowdy observer of life,
And that's where I have always dwelt.
Outgoing has been my makeup,
To those who looked at me and saw.
Still, I did wear my shadows well,
My outgoing hid character flaws.
Ah, I never truly believed,
For sure it wasn't my intent,
To fall for her hard as I did,
My love for her already spent.
And I willingly went with her,
To a wonderful thing called love.
Love. It made me feel young again,
It seemed to be sent from above.
Over time love has changed its course,
I have learned to accept my fate,
I'm here for the duration, sha,
Yes, indeed, I've learned how to wait.

Great work! Love demands participants, not observers of life.
You have learned this fact, it appears, from this poem.
Continued success~

| I read this as love eludes. It does take two, committed to the good and the bad. And all that other blah, blah. There is always a perserverance to you that I so admire, Jerry. |

| Ah Jerry ... Love ... From my experience I've learned to never "wait" for it anymore. If it happens - great! And if not, well, that's fine too ... Love your poetry! |

| Sounds to me like you may be feeling the effect of love without object. To be in love,as you're aware from previous comments, is to have the state of love imbue all you do, all you think, all you are. To without said love, which again, sounds like you're past that threshold, is to be constantly looking outward for an attachment. You inward perception of love seems to know that waiting is merely exercising patience with the process of becoming. Wishing you well. Odin |

Love waits for no man. You have to seize it when it comes along. But I'm glad you waited this one out, because it appears to be very strong.

Even love is not sustainable anymore.
Things do not always work out the way we want them to work out.
And again you've learned your lesson.
Well done Jerry |

ah, the stippled stoicism arises when least expected... I really enjoyed this confessional... I like your rhyming stanzas and I especially liked the conclusion. Life's lessons can be hard, but who ever said it was easy? One thing that makes it easier is that "wonderful thing called love..." so maligned and misunderstood... and so often mistook for lust... but always so much more... In the words of Supertramp (from their song "School") "You're comin' along!"... [and please understand, Jerry, that I do not mean that last encouragement to come off sounding condescending or patronizing in any sense of the words]...
Peace, bro...

I was always an introvert, to shy and meek
Perhaps afraid if I was me someone might
dash what little was left of me, of course
this was eons ago. Now I waver between an
introvert and an extrovert depending on the
situation :)
What a wonderful description of how you
protected who you thought might be less
acceptable due to some flaws, we all have
flaws but sometimes those flaws aren't
flaws at all we just think they are.
But how wonderful you let her in :)
"And I willingly went with her,
To a wonderful thing called love.
Love. It made me feel young again,
It seemed to be sent from above."
How beautiful those lines are!
Wonderful Jerry and time sometimes
changes for it's own reasons
Love and Light
