Waiting for Isaac

I decided to post this before I went to bed, because Hurricane Isaac is supposed to make landfall in about an hour and a half, and I have a feeling we'll lose power during the night. Actually I'm thinking Isaac us a bit doofus. Not my best poem, bit what the hell.

it's early morning
there's something in the air
a tenseness
wasn't there yesterday
wind is picking up
no blue between the clouds
gray overcast
turning to pitch black dark
when Isaac has it way with us
what a time for a hurricane
and what a place picked out to hit
seven years ago tomorrow
Isaac return's to the scene of Katrina's crime
Hurricane Katrina had its way with all over New Orleans
and surrounding states
August 29, 2005
Isaac is projected to wrap New Orleans
in its blanket of
black skies, fierce winds, rain, rain, rain
thunder and lighting tornadoes here and there
waiting for Isaac
to do what he has to do and go visit somebody else
got everything tied down
but there's always something that'll break loose
I sit here
waiting for Isaac

I almost e-mailed you last night, but instead wrote my brother in Elkhart Indiana a note about how he was going to get rain, finally, by next Monday.

Having gone through Alicia and a few wind and rain storms like Ike, it looks like you're in for a long time of wind and rain and I hope it doesn't wear on you too much because, especially at night, that howling wind and pelting rain can be a drag. Also based on the slow movement of Isaac, I expect you have power out for some time. Hang in there, weather the storm and write about it later for us to read.

Having never been through a hurricane (48 MPH winds on the summit of Mt. Washington on Jan 1, 1971, iced summit, bald, slippery, splayed out with progress by ice axe a foot at a time crawling toward the hut is my experience)Hope everything worked out as you planned.

You some kind o' hurricane freak! You've got to be half crazy to just let it come and let it go and then sit down and write about it! He he heeeee! Oooooooooo! That was good!

Love ya!
