A friend is one who knows you and loves you just the same ~Elbert Hubbard~

 A Pearl

It is easy to turn our back on friends who love us
We take those people for granted knowing their love will never wane
So when we do not wish to be bothered by them we brush them off
Knowing they wait patiently on the sidelines when we are bored

They are called the sunny day friends
ones who opened their souls to us with trust
Shared their secrets, pains, and sorrows
because they needed us as much as we needed them one time

These are the friends that can last a lifetime
never take them for granted to fill your space
for they do not come along that often
They are the pearls not often found

The ones who care about your every day
the ones who show love and concern
even if you both do not see eye to eye
they forever hold you dear

The ones who listen when you need an ear
the ones who cry when you are sad
the ones, if possible, would move mountains for you
slow down and look, take no one for granted

Be sure to let them know how much they mean to you
do not wait until your time is through
stop what you’re doing and let them know they are important
always appreciate for this is what is important in life

This pearl of being thankful means a lot
appreciate, validate, love and be thankful

Fine counsel, Carol; and friendship is a theme that is very close to my heart. Thank you for sharing your gift. Love and best wishes,

Three points shine out brightest to me from this radiant writing, Lily, and they are: First: "never take them for granted to fill your space" . . "to fill your space" is strong recognition of the 'self' we possess. Second: "slow down and look, take no one for granted" . . . I treasure anyone saying "slow down and look." Third: "stop what you're doing...." I treasure anyone saying "stop what you're doing and let them know they are important." Excellent! ~~ Diana

A friend knows when you need them and does not have to be asked...for they know. A friend loves you unconditionally
and accepts your flaws and all because all of that makes
you who you are! Another beautiful poem from a very beautiful
woman... ...

You have made a wonderful comparison on what a friend should be to us, they are pearls or diamonds in the ruff.

This is so very true.
And the full meaning of friendship in all its aspects is not given to many.

A great write Carolee, much to think about and to reflect on our own lives and the way we try to be friends and treat our friends
