It is so sad that a once great city like New Orleans is suffering from lack of tourism; vacant chairs there should not be empty. You did justice to one of my favorite towns by your poignant poem. May this beloved city recover soon to be the vibrant force of music and entertainment once again!

I think you artfully captured the shadow of this story. "...aesthetics of life now only/vacant chairs..." puts the vanish in the reader's eye. Placing in the ghost trumpet was perfect. ~~ Diana

Made me think. Mother Nature sure made a mess of that vibrant city. the empty chairs analogy captures its present state pretty well. Hopefully the phoenix will arise once more.

Sadly not the great city it used to be, and it's still struggling to survive. But I truly hope that it does; I've always loved its unique charm.

Trumpet players to hear along with a Jazz band. Jazzy and crisp

Nice poetry, Vivian, about one of the most interesting cities I've ever been to. The title with the New or Lean(s) is perfect. As we speak it is on the lean side of that equation. I live sixty mils from New Orleans, but don't go there much. I did my day and nights in the city though and have many memories.
