Argument vs. Debate

Argument vs. Debate

Misunderstandings occur sometimes
Leaving hearts ravaged, bitter and hurt
When two people disagree and argue
Their words, blunt, short and curt.

Why do we do it to ourselves and others?
When there is nothing to be gained
By sharp argumentative disagreements
That leave all one’s emotions pained.

There is never a winner in an argument
No give or take to solve the issue at hand
No compromises to aid peaceful unity
No opportunity for each other to understand.

Are we that emotionally animalistic
So we are unable to have a controlled debate
Had we rather scream and yell at each other
Building grievous defenses with our words of hate?

Having a discussion without disruptive emotions
Is a skill that must be practiced with diligent care
By learning to use intelligence to tackle a problem
Instead of airing the emotional garbage there.

How much sweeter it would be
To understand and compromise in peaceful coexistence
By discussing disputes and problems rationally
Without aggravating emotional resistance.

Some times responses are made in self protection and can acellerate to anger ,denial, frustration, ect. It is so much better to be able to discuss and talk things out. Some are able to do that , many aren't.Communication and understanding are so important in relationships . One must talk TO their partner, not AT their partner..Good thinking write...M

Half the trouble is that people are passionate about different things. It's when we can't see eye to eye that the frustration turns into hateful things. Marriage is a good example of these issues. Compromise goes hand in hand with debating. Love and Hugs,
Sheila

There is never a winner in an argument

So sadly true, and wholesome debates, with respect shown on both sides, now sadly seem to be a thing of the past.

The best argument to have is with ones self. That way you'll always win. Wise words you've penned.
