Sad Sam

It rained last night cleaning out

the trash by the side of the road

We went to visit Sam

and she didn’t get out of bed

Sadness hung on the walls of her room

Silently screaming “Go away”

We wished for feeling

We wished we could see

But nothing broke through

And it keeps following, following, following me

The drummer keeps time

As well as he can

But the bass is outa tune

And the guitar holds a note for Sam

Can she look at the pain

Is there another way to go

Her father, her father, her father

Was he ever so cruel

Sam said she heard the rain

It made her felt good inside

It cleaned out the trash

But it left her in pain
