***** The Mask *****

I lay awake on my bed
Thoughts travel back in time
Through my head
Way back when I was ten
Had and unusual dream then.
I glide within a mist
Into a room
First it seemed to me
A bit gloom.
A single bed occupied
The space within
A elderly gentle of a man
Upon it slept.
~*~
Heard him breathing
Strangely
As I approached
I noticed his folded arms
Upon his chest.
An expression of serenes
Displayed on his face
Connected
To an electrical device
Was a mask he wore.
I walked closer to him
Slowly raised a hand
softly petting an arm
As one would a puppy.
~*~
I felt
a touch upon my arm
Starled me out of my dream
I looked around my room
Thought I saw
The figure of a child
Silently walking towards
The door
He looked familiar
Yet I had no idea.
From my face
I removed a sleeping breathing
Mask
I am obligated to wear
Baffled
Towards the door
I continued to stare.

It may be a dream of a C-PAP, all too real to those that have had sleep studies by doctors and hospitals trying to take our hard-earned money and put us on expensive machines.
