I am fairly sure we have all felt "life" causing us to drift from even the closest friendships. I recently did something about one I was losing and did not want to say goodbye to. I told her what was in my heart, and she answered like the sister of my heart she has always been. I love you Geri.

Sister Friend

The day is rough
As hours go by.
The day is tough
My tears are dry.
Weeks are months, years.
I miss you friend.

The night is dark.
Heart is silent.
The night is stark;
Feelings, violent.
I miss your heart.
I miss you friend.

I miss the times we leaned then
Upon each others’ strengths.
I miss the songs we used to pen
And sing and sing at length.
I miss the heart I felt like mine
I miss the us that was that time.
Time goes on and changes things
I understand but I miss the strings
Of guitars and of laughs we shared
I miss knowing now, just how you fare.

I spoke my mind.
You listened well.
A friend in kind;
Same tale to tell.
Sisters redesigned.
 I thank you, friend.

How wonderful, in this busy world
we often get taken away and although
we do not forget friends, we don't
tell them often enough what they mean
to us.

Marvelous tribute to Geri :)
