Ahh, San Donato Val Di Comino! There are warm, friendly people, good, fresh food, peacefulness, serenity and great hiking on Forca D'arcero!" There are not any cons, unless you want the constant city night life. San Donato is a peaceful town. You can walk through the whole town in an hour!!
In A Nutshell: "Tiny town, with a huge heart. Located in Province of Frosinone, in the Lazio Region" Take a 2 hour train ride from Rome to Cassino train station. Then, take a 30 minute cab ride, bus ride, or have a friend drive you from Cassino directly there!"

There is always a  cobblestone road that leads you to the piazza. Here is a poem about the town, so you can picture it in your mind:

"Cobblestone Roads that Lead You Home."

Written by Joanna Leone

Hear the orchestra of the crickets' serenade with the chorus of laughter as the moon stretches it arms across the vineyard!

Bell towers chant loudly to remind us of the passing of time; aging houses of white and gray stand proudly as the silhouettes of the children float near the windows as you stroll by.

The splashes of crimson and pink roses hug every balcony, scents of garlic, baked bread, and cappuccino creates temptation as it enters the air.

Feel the gravel on the old, twisted roads tickle your feet; only sounds of the splashes in the scarlet river of wine echo in your mind as you run freely in the piazza.

The scent of chocolate pastry brings a smile at midnight for your journey home.

Where is this land we call home? San Donato Val Di Comino!
The lights of the towns nearby wink at you to welcome you without words!

Only the scents and sights will carry you home.

Simple pleasures of picking the ripe, mature fig as it dangles at the tip of the September branches bring joy to you.

Hear the people banter in the streets as they share stories of past wars; see the sweat of the honest laborer at day's end as the voices of the townspeople bargaining with the vendors fill the streets.

It is a simple town that has charm and beauty that can not be labeled with a price tag. Although the cracks on the balconies get wider with age, the strength and passion of the people endures forever.

A strong presentation to the senses brings me close and in harmony with the warmth of the people and the charming surroundings in this unpretentious write of a small Italian village. All I need now for a contented heart is a bite of fresh fruit and a small capuccino, if you please.

"Cobblestone Roads That Lead You Home" -- Even the title draws one in to comfort and repose.

Very nicely done!

Great portrait of a warm town full of genuine people:-

"Hear the people banter in the streets as they share stories of past wars; see the sweat of the honest laborer at day's end as the voices of the townspeople bargaining with the vendors fill the streets."

Old world charm, leisurely pace of life, people with time to stop and talk about the weather, the price of bread, time to notice the crimson splash of roses on the balconies.

Sounds like a great town. Glad you described it so fantastical. Would like to stroll there. We do have a river walk to stroll up in Harrisburg, PA, the capitol of Pa. It is a nice scenic stroll with river boat cruising by, bicyclers and joggers galore. Benches to sit on when tired out. It is a great walk for all to get some exercise.

another great atmosphere capturd in words. I love to thikn of the smells and sights you describe in this poem... all good descriptions; the roses on the balconies, the humble colors of the houses, the smell of food... a picture of a nostalgic heaven.

Your textually vivid depiction passionately brings the very cobbles of the streets to life. It also creates an environment where even the stranger can make this lively and genteel location his own memory, indeed, it evoked memories of my own Scottish birthplace. All our senses are engaged throughout this atmospheric, linguistic stroll.

Yes, cracks in our lives do appear and sometimes sections of our foundations crumble, but our inner strength, faith and passion for life and our heritage overcomes and sustains us.

Dear Joanna,

A home run again! Bravo!!

You painted a nice visual picture of what you have experienced in Italy. You have inspired me to write a poem about my trips to Italy.

I could easily live in Italy. It's the only country I love more than America. Thank you for sharing!
