Music is a language all understand ~Lily of Lough Neagh~

 An Interlude

Poised in deep calm silence

Gracefully holding its curvature

Amid the coolness of night air

As a single drop of water plops

Like a reverberating symbol chiming

Echoing, its circles span across the water

All is still

Breathless awaiting the next opus

The smoothest of movements

Horsehairs made with love

A symphony painting autumn’s colors

While caressing needy hearts

Poised  with intention

The first stroke

With precision of the surgeon

Tutting whispers of love in the air

Held much like her lover

Passion running deep

She caresses the awaiting strings

with the lightest of touch

a gentle singing forthwith to all

With songs of love

The audience swoons in knowing

How deeply she touches

With love her violin

With her gentle strokes

as the fingers that caress the soul

Her body swaying to the music

She puts forth to testify

Her deep love

Through her music

Melodies that tells her story

Carolee Dennis-Woosley

FROM THE FINE STRINGS OF A VIOLIN...A 'CONNECTION' WHICH TRANSPORTS THE 'GIVER' AND THE 'TAKER' INTO A WONDROUS MUSICAL INTERLUDE...OF UNDERSTANDING. ONE EXCELLENT OFFERING. THANKS FOR SHARING. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS

language spoken...And you
have given an endearing

A melody of gentle music in this interlude of the violin.
Beautiful love in gentle singing of the strings.

I like the delicate suspension in this poem. The way you used space around the stand-alone lines: Title "An Interlude" All is still" and "The first stroke" create the pauses that accompany your stanzas. My favorite line is: "a gentle singing forthwith to all." Very well composed, Lily! ~~ Diana

There's nothing quite as soothing as music, in my humble opinion. My niece plays the violin. I can't help but feel its touch inside my spirit. Beautiful in every way, Carolee.

We have an expression in our language that says "you know how to touch the sensitive strings" and that's exactly what you do.
You touch the strings of beauty and love with such a tenderness.
This is a beautiful hymn to a violinist and her music.

It does not only swoon the audiance, we all know how deeply you touch us with the gentle strokes of your pen

My father always wanted me to play the violin. I chose piano and oboe. I'm sorry today that I didn't learn the violin as well! This is such a beautiful piece of work!

Love ya!

I play no instrument but to me the sax is the most appealing tones I have heard. Music speaks to everyone differently but calmly. wonderful write.

Stay well and keep writing

strong combination of sensitivity and dramatic
tension, Lily; fine word choices and phrasing,
in particular use of 'Tutting' just right in its
context

The violin is a romantic instrument that tells stories without words.
Again, beautiful poetry that lifts itself off the page and into our hearts...

You brought out the smoothness of the fingers as they touch and fondle and stroke the strings of the violin in such as way that makes me feel that I am sitting in the same room with her and listening to her magic. For magic is what musicians bring to the table as they perform for us. Great poetry, Carol. Great!
