A silly alliterative piece that I wrote for my kids when they were still babies.

A Litter Ration

Foxy Fifi fishes freely
For Philomena's friends.

Dandy Dandylord dances daily;
Dee Dee doesn't dare.

While Wilhelmina watches;
Wild, wily Willy waltzes.

Babette's bouncing baby boy
Blows bubbles by Bob's bath.

Pretty Patty prances proudly
Past Patsy's proper poodle.

Katie's cat catches calmly
Catfish, cod, and clams.

Lively Layla laughs a lot
Like little Lily Lawless.

Happy Harry has high hopes
Herman's horse he'll have.

Charlie Child cherishes cherries
Chocolaty, chilled, and chopped.

Wayward Walter wends his way
Westward when we want.

All this is a litter ration,
Would you please call the cat?

This surely would of entertained my hyper children. Such love for your children to do this for them. My Father used to read to me too, and I can remember him doing that.

This alliteration poem must have been difficult to write but you make it seem effortless. It's a bit of a tongue twister too trying to read all the words starting with the same letter.

Sounds like a fun poem for kids. Hope your kids liked it. Thanks for sharing.

A purrfect alliterate whimsy that the children must have adored... and those furry feline fishermen are fabulous fun.

So glad it wasn't a litter nation–let's spread a little atomic waste here and there. It's a delightful little piece that I'm sure your kids enjoyed hearing you read to them. We both have a propensity to play on words–I know I do and I'm glad when others feel the same.

Regis, I was attracted to the funny title. I like the idea of boosting the natural creativity of children by showing them the pleasure of playing with language. It's the kind of exercise I used to do with my daughter and we certainly had a lot of fun.
