GREEN
I’m not the greenest of green,
but I do try my best
and I’m certain I’m more green
than many of the rest.
Recently I had installed
a new bathroom stool.
Its saves lots of water
and I think that’s pretty cool.
My old one always took
several minutes to refill.
When this one’s all done,
the old one would be filling still.
It can’t possibly be using
more than a quart, or maybe two.
With all the water it saves,
it’s what everyone should do.
My water isn’t metered,
I have my own well,
so if it’s saving me money
I really can’t tell.
But, saving water
is simply the right thing to do
and certainly this new stool
could save you some water too.
Counting those gallons
isn’t something I have done,
but just think if this stool
were to be used by everyone.
Lets just say I flush,
possibly 10 times a day,
at a gallon each time
how much would I save?
Ten gallons each day
365 days each year,
thirty six hundred fifty gallons
might be reason to cheer.
And I have only one stool
there are many millions more.
How much would we save
if we were all keeping score?
And that’s only a start,
there’s so much more we can do,
I recycle all my cans & glass,
paper and cardboard too.
But, that’s a different soapbox,
for another day and time.
If I could get 100 to change stools
I’d be feeling pretty fine.
