Oh Those Bones

Shovel on his back

dirt beneath his nails

stumbling backward on the rutted path

of his journey...

burdened by the weight of his labor.

Oh those bones

those aged old bones...

tied to his legs

stuck in his craw.

Ahhh those bones

those splintered old bones

unearthed and dusted

from the corpse of

yesterday.

This reminds me of a fellow from my childhood who dug graves in a small local graveyard. Kindest person!

What a weary, weary tale. I want offer him cool water, tell him to put the shovel down and rest a bit.

I find this metaphorically and symbolically significant, Pat. Well done. Love and best wishes,

It just feels like he got his bones from the corpse of yesterday, but in reality it was the same, tired old bones he lay down last night.
