As I was out looking for Hobo
Who was wandering the tracks
Another human 350 miles east
Perpetuated a most heinous act
He tied three dogs to some tracks
And rejoiced in their agony to come
He wanted to videotape their demise
Two perished, the train spared only one
He ran off when he was spotted by a railroad worker
The surviving canine, was taken to a Cleveland pound
A sweet and innocent dog, that has been named ‘Chessie’
Law enforcement has no leads, this killer has not been found
But even if he is caught, our nation cares little about animal cruelty
The most that he will get, is a slap on the wrist, and a miniscule fine
We’ve even made vicious dog fighters, into modern day role models
We truly are a self-centered species; we sadly live in horrendous times
A dog fighting pro football player is a role model for our children
Government sanctioned wolf hunters blog about their ‘exciting kills’
Children today set kittens on fire because they’ve heard its lots of fun
An adult human being, ties innocents to railroad tracks, seeking a thrill
“To inflict such cruelties on defenseless creatures, or to condone such acts,
Is to abuse one of the cardinal tenets of a civilized society - reverence for life.”
