On this first Tuesday, September 11th, since that fateful day in 2001, may we pause and remember the lives who were lost, the rescue workers now ill, and the families left behind to grieve.
God Bless America and Our Armed Forces!
Another 9/11; another chance to mourn
The day that from the ashes, our nation was reborn,
Each neighbor helped his neighbor; compassion became true
And, we were ever grateful for the red, white and blue.
That day, we watched in horror and prayed for those who died
But, in our grief and anger, we proudly showed our pride,
From sea to sea, our colors flew dutifully and free
In honor of the victims who did not choose to be.
Six years passed very quickly and yet, each seemed so long
Our unity still lingers, though not nearly as strong,
Our neighbors are now strangers; our spirit is not praised
Life has returned to moments when our flag’s hardly raised.
I know we’ve not forgotten the faces of that day
The mothers and the children, whose loved ones passed away,
So, on this 9/11, while life moves at its pace
Let’s pause, if for a second, to sing Amazing Grace.
Another 9/11; another chance to dwell
Upon the day our nation, kneeled to the floor and fell,
Six years since we united, one Tuesday in September
I pray, despite time’s passage, we will always remember!

|We WILL always remember!
However, that unity [as you say] is beginning to drift away. How many vehicles or homes still proudly display the flag? All catastrophes cause an immediate outpouring, but as time passes it becomes dimmer - leaving only memories. We, as a one people under God, need to continue to help our neighbors - be it 9/11 or Katrina.
