A new year.
A fresh page.
A chance, no matter how minute
To turn things around
That need turning
Instead of watching one more revolution
Of manufactured hands
Or digits
Glow without lighting
Our way.
If not a new us,
A fresh look
At ourselves.
As individuals, as a family.
For we are a family.
Now that Earth has a web
Where distance no longer erects
Bars and acts to distort
The message most of us try
To convey
To one another,
The voice we common folk
Have been trying to make heard
Since the age when we were forced
To turn to rock-drawing on walls
Of caves, can no longer be hidden
Behind the shrieks of missiles
And the howls of the winds
Of war after
Or the grinding
Of gears
Or commercials
That by turns wheedle
And shout.
New year,
Fresh page,
Can be ours.
Peace, Sweet Peace.
Love, Sweet Love.
The Miracle of Faith.
Of one for all
And all for

Happy New Year!!

I will make a true effort to heed your advice
But the curmudgeon inside me is not very nice
I step on his neck but he is stronger than me
As his marks on my throat portend what might be
But the New Year has started with a chance to renew
With positive messages from poets like you

Happy New Years.Patrick
