Whoever first baked cOOkies is immortal
(alhough her name escapes me at this time)
No poet writes of bedtime 'milk and doughnuts'
but cOOkies are the choice of those who rhyme.

Consider all the virtues of the cOOkie,
the benefits the cOOkie will provide --
Delicious in a thousand varied options
and small enough to stash away and hide.

Chewy, crispy, flat or baked in layers,
rolled in balls or squiggled through a press;
Ounce for ounce, they're better far than doughnuts -
they're daintier, and leave no doughnut mess.

For people who are connoisseurs of goodies,
cOOkies are the delicacy of choice --
One nibbles gently on a simple wafer;
another dips to make her cOOkie moist.

And the diet-conscious individual
may choose to have a dozen or a few;
'Just one' reflects the will-power of the eater,
but when bingeing -- well, the choice is up to you!

Whoever thought of cOOkies was a genius
(I'm fairly sure my hero was a 'she')
Let cops and firemen eat their doughy doughnuts
and leave those tasty cOOkies all for me!

I want some of them, too!! I am not a cake, pie or pudding person, but I do love my cookies, especially chocolate chips. The best part about this poem is that it's obvious you have a love for getting as well as giving cookies, and aren't they always the best when shared? :) I have to add this one to my library.

Very cute! AND the calories fall out once a cookie is broken so have your fill.

Oh Connie, what would a day without cookies be like? I still dunk my cookies in a cold glass of milk in the evening.

Be always safe,
