Dragonfly Wings
By La Belle Rouge

dragonfly with organza wings
come closer, let me perceive
the intimation of immortality
embodied in a slender frame
artful shimmered iridescence

low existence on waterís edge
burdened wingless, colorless,
tethered to earth, debased
by such a primitive condition
you waited in deep shadows

renewed rising in blissful flight
you travel now in six directions
and view the earth from heights
that once you were oblivious to
dragonfly, you are me, I am you

you bask in summered sunlight
and grace timeless smooth rocks
with such silken, bountiful beauty
dragonfly teach me as I observe
an early morning transformation

Music "Immortality"

Delicate and deep, spiritual and sensual, this is a beautifully woven piece of wonderment that endears both heart and mind and speaks of transformation on so many levels. You have so much soul, Belle. xx

The poem is lovely and reflective. I think I like the last verse best, though it would be nothing without what comes before it. "dragonfly teach me" sigh. The alliteration is remarkable as well, such as "summered sunlight" which is a very romantic phrase to me, and "bountiful beauty", who would not love that? Well done. Be well, Kathy

Certainly not the sinister view I gave them in my poem. Their wings are truly exquisitely intricate. They eat mosquitoes, too. Your usual beautiful writing style.

Ah, the graceful and interesting dragonfly. They are such a strange looking creature I can sit for the longest and just observe them. They are special and your poem has made them even more so.

Quite lovely, especially the last two lines. So much in nature can teach us, if only we are willing to learn.
