Sonnet to Home

Going home in August for a week...can't wait...Newfoundland is always in my heart...she's part of me....an unbelieveably beautiful pristine island...a little rugged yes...but incredible to see....

To tread upon her rugged shore
Caressed by a restless sea.
Linger beside a pristine brook
Just the trees, the breeze and me!

To wander through open meadows
Where wildflowers paint the scene,
Feel the warmth of a sunshine kiss
On a carpet of emerald green!

To gaze upon mountains old as time,
Splendid hues of green and blue!
Peaks that seem to touch the clouds
And very often do!

To hear the birdsong melodies
Freedom beneath their wings!
Air so fresh and pure and clean
Your heart is sure to sing!

There’s not another place on earth
More near and dear to my heart
And even when I’m away from home
Newfoundland is in my heart!

Annabel,
your love of home is well portrayed here, i wish that I had the same feeling as to wishing to return. Newfoundland is beautiful and I can understand why.

Strange, but Newfoundland has always been a place I wanted to see. I never got around to it, darn it. I believe I will take a trip there soon after I win the Powerball. All kidding aside Newfoundland and Tangiers have been two places I've wanted to visit. I know why I have always wanted to visit Tangiers, because of the movies and it just sounds exotic. Newfoundland? The majestic pictures I've seen of the place called me, too bad I was too busy to find the time to go there. Now I just get to read about it, and this was a superb poem, Anna.

Sounds absolutely beautiful, and what's more important than "beautiful" is peaceful: to have a place on earth for you to restore your soul... Wonderful words, my dear friend.
