A Moment With Dad

More than ever before I feel my oneness with nature....just like my precious Dad...

Moonbeams danced across the rippled lake
Shimmering neath a harvest moon
In a sky so full of stars it was as though
Every light in heaven had been left on!

Fireflies flickered in the tall grass…
A bullfrog serenaded the night…
And the air was so fragrant and pure
It was like breathing for the very first time!

And as I sat beside the ebony lake
I knew this was where I belonged…
My soul had never felt so at home…
Like my father…I was one with nature!

My Mi’kmaq ancestry was speaking to me…
And the message was loud and clear!
I could hear the trees; touch the breeze…
And my body belonged to the earth.

Raw and real emotions shook me to my core.
Overwhelming happiness like I’ve never known
Reduced me to blissful tears…
As from eternity I felt my father’s arms around me.

WHAT A BEAUTIFUL MOMENT YOU EXPERIENCED. THERE IN THE ATMOSPHERE THAT HE SO ENJOYED, IT DIDN'T MATTER THAT HE WAS IN ONE REALM AND YOU IN ANOTHER... THE LOVE BETWEEN FATHER AND DAUGHTER FUSED AND SPILLED OVER. THANKS FOR SHARING THIS UNIQUE TIME, ANNABEL. THE IMAGERY IS JUST WONDERFUL. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...

I absolutely love this stunning poem. You took me there, the scene, the emotions. Impressive work.

To think that being outside a a natural place can give so much and ask so little. "Every light in heaven had been left on!" I really liked that -- "And my body belonged to the earth." .. a very direct way to speak of this connection. Knowing where one belongs is a sensation some people never have, but I'm happy that you did. ~~ Diana

Like on Golden Pond, we remember the times we had with her parents on the lake the with the most love because that is where we experienced nature to its fullest. Thanks for taking me back to those wonderful days.

Being one with nature - be very thankful of your father's gift - so many have lost the ability to do so today - and so sadly why our natural world is in such sad shape today.

your fathers arms have always been around you and he is smiling at his little girl.

Ohhh! This is so touching, Anna. I wish I could conjure up those kind of feeling about either one of my parents. Been in ER most of the day that's why I'm so late getting here.

Some moments, far too seldom moments come to us that touch our souls and the moment inpacks our heart and mind with words that, most often we cannot express because we cannot understand the deep felt emotion... You, my dear lady, have found the words.
