Moonbeams danced across the rippled lake
Shimmering neath a harvest moon
In a sky so full of stars it was as though
Every light in heaven had been left on!
Fireflies flickered in the tall grass…
A bullfrog serenaded the night…
And the air was so fragrant and pure
It was like breathing for the very first time!
And as I sat beside the ebony lake
I knew this was where I belonged…
My soul had never felt so at home…
Like my father…I was one with nature!
My Mi’kmaq ancestry was speaking to me…
And the message was loud and clear!
I could hear the trees; touch the breeze…
And my body belonged to the earth.
Raw and real emotions shook me to my core.
Overwhelming happiness like I’ve never known
Reduced me to blissful tears…
As from eternity I felt my father’s arms around me.
