It sounded like the sky fell, the way
it avalanched through the roof and
into the room.  The walls, bleached
pale, bowed out, snapped back, as
did my ears.  Forgot what thunder
sounded like:  been a while since
we've had rain.  RAIN.  Rolled over,
closed my eyes, went back to sleep.

Since sleep and I are not always on friendly terms, I welcome
the rhythm of falling rain, and the pure pleasure of rolling
over and losing myself in sleep. Thanks for this, Karla.
