Eternally

I happened to check my stats page this morning after seeing a fellow den member had reviewed my poem that I wrote for my 400th poem posted. I have now posted well over 1500 poems and had over 700,000 hits. So...it is about time I thanked all who have read, reviewed or commented on my work...it does mean so much to me.

Eternally

Between the tears falling like soft rain

On a bed crisp, sterile and white

Their conversation was trapped eternally

in the glare of fluorescent white light…

She said: "I shall perish without you!"

He said: "In your heart I never will die."

She said: "I beg of you…baby don’t leave me."

He said: "Oh baby I’ll love you always, don’t cry."

She said: "Who will bring me my morning sunshine?"

He said: "I’ll send it to you each day from the sky."

She said: "Baby please just let me go with you."

He said: "Dear one someday together with angels we'll fly,"

Sadly she watched his breathing turn shallow

She held his hand as he breathed his last sigh

Now she hoards away all their past memories

Until that day when she learns how to fly…

this is lovely Fee, and these moments
in our lives to be witness to ascension
and the birth of death is such special
spiritual experience-even through abundant sorrows
your poem reveals such beauty in a lover's last breath

Lithe, supple, sinewy are the rhythms of your verse.
But formal finesse aside, the sense of the piece is a pair
of hearts beating as one, the sorrow of loss cannot eclipse
the certain solace of a consummation devoutly held.
Your images stir up much more than mere sentiment as they
commemorate a settled love that slips the surly bonds of
earth to measure the true worth of its undying nature.
