This is a piece I co-wrote with my boyfriend.
I remember when my father was flawless,
No picture of Dorian Gray,
There was no crease upon his brow,
No imperfection- like there is now,
Back in the yesterday.
His deeds on dirtied hands do loan,
The greedy grime his figure shown,
He is older now than I remember,
From d'time before his grace dismember'd,
A picture of Dorian Gray.
Before he became an image,
The father I knew back in my youth,
H'was no portrait hid in d'attic,
His age has now revealed the truth,
He's the Picture of Dorian Gray.
I wish he was as he was then,
Back when my father was flawless,
A shining statue of man's perfection,
Ere gold was replaced by canvass,
Not a picture of Dorian Gray.
