The written version of Jimmy Smith

Jimmy Done gone

Written by,

Cliff Chandler ©

Jimmy Smith is gone

And so is Shirley Scott

And Stanley Turentine,

Her husband, but they

Aren’t dead, just gone.

Da da da da, da da da

Da da da da da da da.

Da daaah…Da daaah.

Thum thum thum thum

Thum thum thum thum.

Wild Bill told Jimmy

It would take years

To learn the foot pedals

Sixty of them.

How about six months.

Jimmy ain’t gone

He’s at that great gig

Up Yonder kickn’ it

Thum thum thum thum

Thum thum thum thum.

Ennnth a do be do

Thum thum thum thum

Thum thum thum thum.

Ahhh ummm, yeah

Yeah.

Ladies and Gentlemen:

Jimmy Smith kickn’

All they way.

Thum thum thum thum

Thum thum thum thum.

I knew a Jimmy Smith, so I had to see what your poem was about. I still don't know, but it's got rhythm. Who needs purpose when you've got rhythm?

Man I love your sounds and all that jazz in tribute to the masters of "America's classical music." Keep on humming and thum thum thumming those blues aways. Peace.
