Today's River

A day alone, away from other demands.

Today’s River

My free day, a gift wrapped in sunshine
and riverbanks and all—alone.
Today I bend to no one’s wind but mine.

Earth’s music comes, bidden, to my stereo hearing-—
balm salved on demand-filled ears.

I’m on a people—fast.
No one’s stepping on my heels,
chasing my tail,
slapping the reins.

My closed fist softens.
My eyes float, float, downstream.

This is the way to live life- after having many health conditions brought on by stress, this poem's honesty rings through for me- and your style is simple and clear.
