What do you know about tomorrow? How can you be so sure about your life? It is nothing more than mist that appears for only a little while before it disappears...

" After these things I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven. And the first voice which I heard was like a trumpet speaking with me, saying, "Come up here, and I will show you things which must take place after this." "

                    Revelation 4:1

Yes, true and Amen
this Word you breathe
in my ear,
moist at my throat.

My Dear One

Different things do you
require of different men,
and what is it to me?  Days of
salted nothingness cloying
        up the dome of sky
cutting of time
all I've seen
I've lived
from my bone
prayers shaved like the flesh
of fish into shinning strips
that curl in the sun. On Patmos,
singular and most solitary
of rocks...

I watched him as he
teetered out of the boat that night,
fool fearless, (love-drunk, in his panic)
I whiffed at his terror on the wind...
Of the wave?     Perhaps.

(And later still,
at where he would not go
love-drunk, your slave.  Your rock...)

But more, more I think...
It was
of you,
that chasm of your eye~
the death it is
to follow you...believe
meet you there~
                 treading the impossible
that is your Love.

as I rested as a babe, at the
hollow of your breast...
Or there, fleetingly,
at your feet,
as she hung on me, her
grief a mantle heavier than the Hell
sucking at our hands,
when we clung to your blood's scandal,
the impossible that is your Love
I remember thinking then,
it is different things
to different men
you also give.

I know this now.
It is what you require:
that each receive...of his own.

And it is here on this rock
you call me, too

as tread out, I must

to come up ,

come up here.

John's ordeal on Patmos was sobering indeed!

But there was something about "John the beloved" that Jesus cherished. The revelation that was imparted to him because of the special relationship he had with Christ was extraordinary.

This construct, Pataliyah, as with your other labors of love, provokes one to think and appreciate the gifts that we have been given.
