A tribute to all servivers and those who were less fortuned
|
Today is a day to smile, today is a day to rejoice on this day a short year ago so much sorrow so much pain so many people caught in Katrina's washed out throws
Stand tall I say and rejoice for the resilience of the soul for it is only by grace that you're one of the chosen witness were you there to see the one's who passed away did you give solace to them who could not stand to stay
The sky above might be gray this day, but behind clouds I know the sun shines and fights to brighten this day a song sounds light and bright in my healing heart it sings rejoice, rejoice and rejoice, bang the cymbals bang the drums let you feet stamp out a joyous song

I love the hope and triumphant spirit that dances through this poem!
Especially the fourth to the last verse, 'I know the sun shines and fights to brighten this day...'
Well done Cheryl!
~ my brother-in-law's parents survived Katrina, by the grace of God!

It is still amazing to me how Fema crapped out with Katrina victims, and after all this time. Remarkable forbearance to those still standing.
Enjoyed reading.

Hi Cheryl,
I'm an Aussie who was fortunate enough to see New Orleans one year BEFORE Katrina. I felt for the people and was saddened too that so much history and beauty was washed away. Of course, world-wide media coverage dropped right off once the crisis was over and I often wonder how 'Norlins' is doin' and will it recover its pizazz. Thanks for reminding me of a lovely place and a sad sad time. Jim |

Cheryl,
Wow! An amazing, inspiring write for those who made it through. Just this morning, I met a lady who was a survivor...she lost everything, but she's A L I V E. Food for thought, very well penned.
(((HUGS))) and love, Karla. |
